Pelotonia Thanks

These cards were made with a bicycle theme to thank those who have sponsored me as a Virtual Rider in the Pelotonia bike race.  The race began as a grassroots effort to raise money to support cancer research.  All the money raised goes directly to do so – no overhead.  Learn more about it (and make a donation if you like!) here.

8 x 8 Pad Disappearance Challenge

Inspired by Kristie at her blog The Best Things in Life are Pink, I tried to make a paper pad “disappear” by using it all up by making cards.  The paper pad I chose, however, was not the typical 6 x 6, but rather, a slightly larger 8 x 8 pad.

The pad I used was Graphic 45’s “By the Sea” pad.  Graphic 45’s 12 x 12 papers are very challenging to use for cards due to the size of their images, but they did a good job of providing larger and much smaller prints in this pack.

Many thanks to Kristie for showing which sketches she used.  I followed her examples for many of the cards!   There were a few more cards than this, but I have been using one here or there for occasions.  The rest will go to Operation Write Home.  OWH is closing down and they stop taking cards on Aug 1, so these will go in my last box to them.

I’m featuring a Missing You card to enter into the Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge on the Operation Write Home blog today.

Penny’s Challenge: #230 Anything Goes

Yes, yes, I know it is March…but I couldn’t post the Valentines when I made them because I didn’t want anyone to see them before they were delivered and then, well, you know…life! :)   The first three were for my nieces, the last one for my DH.

This Lawn Fawn set is called Bugs and Kisses – that’s also what the sentiment says inside!  The designer paper is by Doodlebug, Inc. – called Love Bug.  The glitter paper on all the cards is by DCWV and the silver by Recollections.

This Lawn Fawn set is called – you guessed it – Love You Tons.  So cute!  The ink stamp stripes are “Belinda’s Borders”, also by Lawn Fawn.

This digi image is called Little Puppy Love by Limited Runs Digital Stamps.  The inside sentiment says Sending Warm Fuzzies by Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings” stamps.   How perfect right?!…the envelopes on the paper and the digi and the fuzzy dog!

I have only made a few shaker cards before, this one also uses Lawn Fawn‘s Bugs and Kisses.  The dies are My Favorite Things Die-Namics By the Letters.  The “you” is from Winnie and Walter “The Big, The Bold and You” stamp set.  I used a transparency and foam tape to add the heart sequins in, after I shaded the back layer with Tim Holtz’ Distress Inks.

Little Winter Fairy

I really admire the beautiful images at A Day for Daisies.  The talented folks that make paper crafts with these images are amazing as well!  Other than a simple bunnies design, I have been pretty afraid to try to color any of these images – because the bar is set so high!  So, this is my first try at coloring a more detailed image.  It is called “Little Winter” and it was a freebie on their blog awhile back.  I like how her wings almost look like winter scarves as well.  I do not see it in their shop, but there are so many other lovely options!  I wanted to keep the colors very muted because on a gray-skied day when it starts to snow, things are always monochromatic outside.  There is a slight sparkle in her hair with a Wink of Stella pen that is hard to see in the photo.  This is my first try at using Copic Opaque White paint as well.

Supplies Used:

Digital Images:  A Day for Daisies “Little Winter”

Paper:  Recollections

Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels 8″

Sentiment:  Simon Says Stamp Small Hello Craft Die

Markers: Copic

Shimmer Pen:  Wink of Stella

Silver Pen: Pearl Line

White Paint:  Copic Opaque White
