Paper Crafts and Sweet Morsels from life.

Pelotonia Thanks

These cards were made with a bicycle theme to thank those who have sponsored me as a Virtual Rider in the Pelotonia bike race.  The race began as a grassroots effort to raise money to support cancer research.  All the money raised goes directly to do so – no overhead.  Learn more about it (and make a donation if you like!) here.

8 x 8 Pad Disappearance Challenge

Inspired by Kristie at her blog The Best Things in Life are Pink, I tried to make a paper pad “disappear” by using it all up by making cards.  The paper pad I chose, however, was not the typical 6 x 6, but rather, a slightly larger 8 x 8 pad.

The pad I used was Graphic 45’s “By the Sea” pad.  Graphic 45’s 12 x 12 papers are very challenging to use for cards due to the size of their images, but they did a good job of providing larger and much smaller prints in this pack.

Many thanks to Kristie for showing which sketches she used.  I followed her examples for many of the cards!   There were a few more cards than this, but I have been using one here or there for occasions.  The rest will go to Operation Write Home.  OWH is closing down and they stop taking cards on Aug 1, so these will go in my last box to them.

I’m featuring a Missing You card to enter into the Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge on the Operation Write Home blog today.

Apple of My Eye – OWH Labor Day VCMP #4

This challenge was to use OWH Sketch #29 to make a Love themed card.  I really like how it turned out – especially how one can use greens and reds from nature without it looking like a Christmas card!

Products used:

  • Digi/Sentiment:  Apple of My Eye Free Digi:
  • Designer Paper:  DCWV
  • Markers:  Copic
  • Ribbon:  Celebrate It 360 by Michael’s

Triple Snowflakes – OWH Labor Day VCMP #3

This challenge was to use rectangle die cuts with designer paper.  I have had to use the trimmer to make my cuts because I don’t have plain rectangle die cuts.  I like the tonal look of the card – it is very simple, but may be that is okay since it might be masculine enough for men to send.

  • Sentiment:  Hero Arts Finding Joy
  • Designer Paper:  DCWV The Winter Combo Printed Mat Stack
  • Solid Paper:  DCWV Summer Adhesive Mat Stack
  • Ink Pad: Stampin’ Up Tempting Turquoise

Once you get started, who can make just one card?  This challenge was to be inspired by OWH literally – use things on the card that start with the letters O-W and H!  Well, like many of the others, I may have stretched it a little, but here’s what I have:

O – OWL and Orange
