Paper Morsels

Paper Crafts and Sweet Morsels from life.

Warm & Cozy Wishes

I just love this image by A Day for Daisies called Hot Coco.  It speaks to me because hot chocolate is my warm drink of choice, since I”m not a coffee drinker.  It was so fun to color with my Copic markers.  I love the little doggy, following along behind.  I used a silver metallic paint marker on her pompom.  I added glossy accents on her bag of marshmallows. The little polka dots were added with a white gel pen.  I popped the image and part of the banner up with fun foam and foam tape.

Some Things Old, Some Things New

Christmas has gone by, and I only got half the cards out that I’d hoped.  In this New Year, one nice thing is that we are just seeing our first snow here. I think snowflakes work out great for thank you cards for those holiday gifts!  This is one I’ll be sending out soon.

For this card, I dug out my vellum and embossed my new Crystal Flurries stamps by The Ton stamps on it with some glittery blue embossing powder I have had in my stash a long while.  I adhered the vellum down just under the snowflakes, so it looks like a loose overlay around the edges.  I just love the new DCWV Glitzy cardstock I received as one of my gifts!  The glitter doesn’t come off at all and the sparkle is awesome!   I used a cute die cut from Simon Says Stamp.

Crystal Flurries

As my obsession with snowflakes continues, here is a card I made with my new Crystal Flurries set by The Ton stamps.  I embossed the flakes with Ranger Platinum embossing powder and then water colored the paper.  I embossed the edges of the white cardstock with the same embossing powder so that it would match the stamps.  The vellum banner is hand stitched with a silvery thread I found in my cross stitching stash.

Red, White and Snow

Just to show you how versitile the Simon Says Stamps snowflake dies can be, here’s a completely different look than my recent watercolor version.  This time, I added a little clear glue to the die cuts and dipped them into some clear microfine glitter before mounting them onto beautiful DCWV red foiled cardstock. The foil is so reflective that getting a good photo angle sure was tricky!

Little Winter Fairy

I really admire the beautiful images at A Day for Daisies.  The talented folks that make paper crafts with these images are amazing as well!  Other than a simple bunnies design, I have been pretty afraid to try to color any of these images – because the bar is set so high!  So, this is my first try at coloring a more detailed image.  It is called “Little Winter” and it was a freebie on their blog awhile back.  I like how her wings almost look like winter scarves as well.  I do not see it in their shop, but there are so many other lovely options!  I wanted to keep the colors very muted because on a gray-skied day when it starts to snow, things are always monochromatic outside.  There is a slight sparkle in her hair with a Wink of Stella pen that is hard to see in the photo.  This is my first try at using Copic Opaque White paint as well.

Masking Tape Background – OWH Labor Day VCMP #5

This was an awesome challenge!  I was so excited to try such an easy technique with masking tape!  Actually, I used blue painter’s tape, because that is what I found first 🙂  I love the effect it gives and I’m definitely going to try this one again on other cards!
