Paper Morsels

Paper Crafts and Sweet Morsels from life.

8 x 8 Pad Disappearance Challenge

Inspired by Kristie at her blog The Best Things in Life are Pink, I tried to make a paper pad “disappear” by using it all up by making cards.  The paper pad I chose, however, was not the typical 6 x 6, but rather, a slightly larger 8 x 8 pad.

The pad I used was Graphic 45’s “By the Sea” pad.  Graphic 45’s 12 x 12 papers are very challenging to use for cards due to the size of their images, but they did a good job of providing larger and much smaller prints in this pack.

Many thanks to Kristie for showing which sketches she used.  I followed her examples for many of the cards!   There were a few more cards than this, but I have been using one here or there for occasions.  The rest will go to Operation Write Home.  OWH is closing down and they stop taking cards on Aug 1, so these will go in my last box to them.

Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party

Happy Independence Day Weekend!  I’ve been spending some much needed time in my craft room, making a few cards for the Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party.  Below are some of the cards I’ve made for a few of the challenges.

Challenge #1:  Use an OWH sketch to make “his and hers” cards.

I used sketch number 94 as my inspiration:

Challenge 2:  Create a Thank You Card

There was an extra note to use spray inks, but I do not have any, so I used distress inks to make the background of this card.

I love the vibrant colors!  I used the Simon Says Stamp Bold Flowers stencil and the Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks die.

Challenge 3:  Paper Piecing for Kids

I’d been wanting to try this for awhile!  I used an OWH tutorial as my inspiration.

These stamps are from the OWH Hero Arts Missing You set!

I have to thank Lawn Fawn’s own Kelly Marie Alvarez for the chance to CASE this one!

Simon Says Stamp “Create” Event!

I spent two days this weekend and an amazing crafting event put on by a Columbus  based online-only crafting store called Simon Says Stamp.  The workshops were all taught be some of the VIPs of the paper crafting world!

We made cards and learned neat techniques with Sharri Carroll (Simon Says Stamp), Jennifer McQuire (Hero Arts, etc.), Sandy Allnock (Operation Write Home), Kelly Marie Alverez (Lawn Fawn) and  Stephanie Klauck (Simon Says Stamp).  We made some cool 3D Distressed Art projects with Tim Holz.  I got to see some talented artists demo some techniques – a couple of them that I follow on blogs regularly!  Oh…and I got tons of free stamps and supplies!  It was a great time!
